After police discovered a license plate registered to Alicia Alampi at the scene of a fatal hit and run crash on the 2300 block of Park Street, they went to her Liverpool residence. At the home, police found both Alampi and her black 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which had damage that was consistent with striking a pedestrian, according to Syracuse police. According to the felony complaint against Alampi, she told police: "I thought I hit a dark object that looked like a tire. I didn't know I hit a person." Robert BeVard, 27, of Liverpool, was pronounced dead at the scene by Rural Metro. Friday. Alampi later failed the standard field sobriety test, consisting of checking her ability to look side to side, walk and turn and stand on one leg, police said. She had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath, police noted. Alampi told police she had drank "a large glass of wine," according to the complaint. Police said Alampi had a blood alcohol content of .12 percent. At her arraignment Friday morning, Alampi pleaded not guilty to second degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving while intoxicated and DWI with a blood alcohol content above .08. Syracuse City Court Judge Jeffrey Merrill ordered Alampi held on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. Merrill also set a preliminary hearing date of Wednesday in City Court. Miller and a friend were returning from a club show when tragedy struck. Rob said he spoke to his brother friend, who told him car came out of absolutely nowhere and hit Miller as he was crossing the street. hit him and just kept going, Rob said. People in the area told the Sun Miller flew about 50 ft. after being struck. He wound up in front of 332 Bronson, where James Malek is part of a construction crew working on the home. was a pool of blood right there, right in front of the house, he said, pointing to a spot on the pavement. really sad to think that someone would hit someone and just run away like that, said Malek. A woman living in the house apparently made the 911 call. Miller was unconscious and suffering from injuries, according to paramedic spokesman Andre Gignac. Miller, who went to Stratford Central Secondary School, moved to Ottawa around the time he turned 21 in March 2010. He was looking for adventure and culture, said his other big brother, Eric. The fan of punk music played guitar and drums and was in a few groups. Miller had only returned to Ottawa last week. He spent a month with family in his hometown following the death of his grandmother Barbara Miller in July. Miller parents immediately drove to Ottawa Wednesday morning but were too devastated to make the journey back to Stratford. One of Miller uncles was flying from Barrie to Ottawa to drive them home. Miller brothers appealed for the driver to come forward for his own sake. a guilty conscience sets in you want to be free of that, Rob said. Police are asking the public to help find the driver. The car is a dark Nissan sedan with damage to the front end or passenger side. It was last seen heading southbound on Bronson Ave. Anyone with information can call the traffic collision investigation section at 613 236 1222 ext. 2481 or Crime Stoppers at 613 233 8477 or toll free at 1 800 222 8477. Men Nike Free Run 3 Midnight Fog Volt Blue Glow,With the summer waning and August just one week away, parents across the country must be thinking one thing: back to school shopping. Spending by the average family with school aged children is expected to rise 19 percent to $527 from $444 in 2005, according to a recent survey. Even though the retail sector has gotten crushed by higher interest rates and expensive gasoline, we think the following four names could see modest upside from the pending back to school shopping season. Pacific Sunwear (NASDAQ:PSUN): PacSun targets trendy young men and women who are influenced by hip hop music and the urban lifestyle with name brand casual apparel (jeans, shorts, T shirts, swimwear), shoes, and accessories. Stores feature name brand apparel by Billabong, Quicksilver, and DC Shoes footwear, among others. PacSun also sells its own private label merchandise (Bullhead, Breakdown, Good Vibes, and Tilt). After adding 115 stores last year, PacSun plans to open about 100 new outlets in 2006. PSUN has earned a reputation for catering to teen tastes and even holds a weekly vendor open house where unknown labels have a chance at being the next mega teen trend. We view this anti establishment theme in a favorable light and would gladly pick up shares at today's depressed levels. PSUN, which has $95M in cash and zero debt, looks awfully cheap: the company has grown its EPS 36% over the last 3 years but currently trades at less than 11 x current year earnings. PSUN looks like one of many retailers whose shares were mercilessly clobbered by rate phobic investors who panicked after Bernanke opened his mouth. Hot Topic (NASDAQ:HOTT): Goth is in and Hot Topic is cashing in on your daughter's infatuation with black lipstick. The punkish, teen oriented retail chain, which operates 660 plus mall based stores in the US and Puerto Rico, coughed up $725M in sales last year. HOTT primarily sells rock inspired clothing and accessories in settings resembling dark industrial clubs. The retailer also operates 120 Torrid stores for plus sized customers. Built with the enfant terible in mind, Hot Topic targets rambunctious customers ages 12 to 22. The chain carries hard to find items, like pinstripe fishnet stockings, skull necklaces, and enticing thong wear [should we ever find our kids wearing this stuff, we swear we will ground them for life and feed them gruel until they're 40]. HOTT which tests new items in a few stores before launching them on a national scale is expanding rapidly and plans to open about 40 new Hot Topic stores this year. All that said, with ROE that's 300 bps lower than the industry average, Hot Topic is not a stock we'd buy in a hurry. The stock currently goes for 36 x earnings, which looks expensive when we take into consideration that HOTT has grown its EPS just 14% over the last 36 months. In short, we believe that even the most upbeat forecasts are already baked into the stock, the most speculative bet among the four stocks listed here. Zumiez: (NASDAQ:ZUMZ) Zumiez is a mall based retailer offering extreme gear to youngsters with penchants for action sports like snowboarding, BMX, skateboarding, and surfing. From about 190 stores in 19 states, Zumiez sells popular youth brands like Burton, Hurley, Quiksilver, and Vans. The company's sales clerks wear the gear and know their stuff cold. Zumiez, founded in 1978 by its chairman Thomas Campion (who owns 25% of the company's stock), plans to open about 40 stores in 2006. We believe Zumiez enjoys considerable brand loyalty among its shoppers and we would gladly invest even at today's lofty levels: Zumiez, which grew its earnings 61% over the last 12 months, currently trades hands at 1.0 x growth (on a PEG basis). Because the firm is debt free and in high growth mode, we'd pay a premium for shares. As for whether or not the market agrees with us, only time will tell the stock is already up 40% YTD and rival JCPenny recently encroached on ZUMZ's niche. Staples: (NASDAQ:SPLS) Staples is the Hercules of office supply retailing. It sells office products, furniture, computers, and other supplies through its chain of nearly 1,800 Staples and Staples Express stores in the US and Canada and about 20 other countries. (More than 1,500 of its superstores are located in North America.) Staples also provides document management and copying services through its retail chain. The company targets small businesses and home office professionals. Staples' North American retail operation, which accounts for more than half the company's revenue, continues to expand at an impressive pace. It added almost 100 new stores to its portfolio in 2005 and plans to open another 100 locations in the coming year. A large part of the company's growth has come from its catalog and direct sales business, which now accounts for 1/3 of sales. Staples also has its eyes set on Europe, where it runs 250 retail locations. We like Staples' expansion plans since they indicate that management has insulated itself from a saturated domestic market. Staples, which boast industry leading pre tax margins, as well as ROIC (EBIAT/total invested capital), is in terrific financial shape (EBIT covers interest expenses over 23 x) and sells at less than 19 x. We believe a pick up in sales related to back to school supplies could modestly lift shares over the next quarter.

He was born in Italy in 1946, where he learned much of the basics of design from his mother. After being hired at a number of small fashion houses, Versace presented his own lines of women's and men's fashions. These shows generated great reviews, and soon the House of Versace was born. Gianni worked closely with his younger sister, Donatella. The Versace line continued to grow and expand, and they became household names. Versace worked with stars like Madonna, Prince, Jon Bon Jovi and Elton John, and even designed outfits for Diana, Princess of Wales. After being hired to design the clothing for the TV drama Miami Vice, Gianni moved to Miami Beach. It was while returning home from a walk one morning that he was gunned down by serial killer Andrew Cunanan in 1997. Brother Santo Versace was named the new CEO of the Versace brand while Donatella took over the design. Since then Versace has continued to grow and thrive, expanding into even more markets, including a chain of deluxe resort hotels that are popping up across the globe. Versace clothing is the very definition of style. Elaborate fabrics and innovative design combine to create pieces that are both functional and edgy. If you're in the market for some designer duds, here are some tips to help you shop for Gianni Versace clothes and other items: Original designs from Gianni Versace can still be found through auctions, resellers and sometimes online. Many of these items have collector's value, but buyer beware make sure that what you're purchasing is truly an original piece of Versace fashion. Versace's trademark pieces include tightly woven metallic items, beaded bustiers, cat suits, tights that are worn as pants and neckties made from lush fabric in bold colors. Versace suits are a status symbol for men all over the world. Fashion accessories are an integral part of the Versace line. Shoes, belts, handbags, eyewear and jewelry are all featured in every collection. Other collections include fragrance and personal care lines for men and women, watches and a home collection. For Versace on a budget, check out the many outlet stores all over the United States. To find one near you, search online for local retailers. There are also many outlet stores in Italy, where you'll be able to find high end designer fashions and other pieces from the previous year's collection at vast discounts. Men Nike Free Run 3 Midnight Fog Volt Blue Glow After delaying the celebration of Florida State's national championship due to conflicting schedules with players who left early or graduated, the school announced that the new date for the festivities will be Saturday, Feb. "We're trying to treat this very similar to a normal football weekend," said Jason Dennard, director of marketing for FSU athletics, to the Tallahassee Democrat prior to the postponement. "We highly anticipate there will be people here tailgating, treating it as such." The event, free for everyone, will take place inside Doak Campbell Stadium. Gene Deckerhoff, the Voice of the Seminoles, will emcee the event, and several key members in the Florida State community will talk as well. After it's over, fans will be able to go onto Bobby Bowden field and meet with players and, according to the official release, be able to "congratulate the players personally for their undefeated run to the national title," though "fans will be asked to refrain from seeking autographs so the players have the chance to meet and talk with as many of the team's supporters as possible." As fans exit, they'll have a chance to grab one of 20,000 free commemorative posters at the exits of Doak. The celebration inside Doak isn't the only attraction on Saturday. If fans so desire, they can head over to Langford Green and have a picture taken with the Coaches Trophy, as well as visit the brand new Indoor Practice Facility, built this past August, and look at pieces of turf from the FSU UF game, ACC Championship and Rose Bowl games before they're buried inside of the Sod Cemetery.
