Well, I want to care if people wear shoes around here sometimes because of the carpet, but DH wears special inserts, can't even wear slippers and has orthodics for his regular shoes. so he is ALWAYS in a sneaker or work shoe with his inserts in them.(he even wears shoes on the beach as sand kills his feet!) I only make the kids take off their shoes when they play outside. We have a bin in the garage for them all. People that come over here take their shoes off at the door. We have laminate tile in the foyer, hallway, kitchen and dining room, but carpet in the living room and family room downstairs as well as on the steps. It's winter here now too and people aren't keen on tracking wet, dirty snow through another person's home. I've never had to ask anyone to remove their shoes anywhere I've lived. We take ours off whenever we're at someone else's house, too. If someone wanted to bring in a clean pair of shoes or slippers, I don't care. Whatever floats their boat. ETA: My littlest wears SMO's and has to have her tennies on with them, so she wears them constantly at home and when we go to another person's house because she likes to stand. The people we're visiting know this ahead of time though and she doesn't wear them outside. However, nurses will agree with an industry study done in 1998 that showed nurses have nearly double the injury rate of all other occupations. Further studies of back injuries and work related back pain and their relation to the physical demands of nursing have divided nurses into two categories; nurses who work in healthcare institutions such as hospitals and nurses who work in the community in nursing homes or as private duty nurses. Nurses working in hospitals showed a lower incidence of musculoskeletal disorders and back pain than community nurses, where there is a greater prevalence of manual handling of patients. The two main factors contributing to back injury or pain for healthcare professionals are lifting /transferring patients and bed making, so it is no surprise that the highest risk of back injury for nurses is on orthopedic floors, in operating rooms and emergency rooms. The typical patient weigh a minimum of 100 pounds. Transferring patients from bed to wheelchairs or commodes singlehanded constitutes a load level that far exceeds the weight level considered safe for industrial workers to handle. Bed making is a simple task that if not performed with caution also increases the risk of back injury due to the level of awkward stretching and bending involved. In recent years hospitals have instituted training programs and updated equipment to help reduce occupational back injury. The use of lifting apparatus such as gait belts, Hoyer lifts and sliding boards to help move patients from one location to another serves to lessen the risk of back injury during transfer. On going training for nurses and other healthcare workers in the correct use of lifting aids and the proper body posture during bending, lifting and twisting helps reduce time and productivity lost due to injury. Maintaining adequate staffing levels at all times helps insure that there will be an adequate number of people available to help with difficult lifts and patient transfers. Also, adequate staffing levels help decrease nurse fatigue. Many occupational injuries occur when staffed is either too rushed or too fatigued to practice safe lifting and transferring procedures. While many nurses continue to work with back injury and back pain, this often results in reduced productivity at the work site through a loss of efficiency and expediency. Patient care can suffer as a result. When back pain or injury is so severe as to result in the nurse having to stay home from work the recuperation period can be lengthy. One of the biggest problems for nurses recovering from a back injury is having to repeat the motion that caused the initial injury once the nurse returns to her duties. Rarely is a nurse able to return to her job with a note that says lifting or bending for 4 weeks The result is a nurse, who although feeling better and able to comfortably walk and sit, is seriously at risk for chronic re injury if a return to work includes lifting and transferring. Muscular stretching and toning is an important part of the healing process for back injuries; once a back injury has occurred a serious strength and training routine for the back should be faithfully followed as soon as the back is no longer irritated. Muscular strengthening exercises will be important once the back irritation has subsided. Back strengthening exercises help to build stability in weak tissueNurses are supreme care givers and that care should also be extended to their own bodies in order to maintain an injury free life. One simple, but important way, to help prevent injury on the job is to wear a nursing shoe with a broad heel for good stability and good support through the arches. A tie shoe that can be tightened with the laces as the shoe stretches is ideal. Comfort should be a priority when choosing shoes. Nursing shoes with run down heels should be replaced as they can result in improper alignment of ankles, knees and hips, making the body more susceptible to injury. Training classes, lifting and transferring aids, adequate staffing, nursing shoes and a good strength training program are positive aids in reducing occupational injuries. With a little effort it is possible for nurses to remain injury free and enjoy the rewards of their profession. Sally Ryan has been involved in the healthcare uniform industry for 20+ years. Operating two retail locations and an extensive outside sales territory of nursing schools, she became familiar with the uniform industry, its products and its problems. Her experience in the uniform business taught her the importance of selecting the proper style and size of uniform to flatter ones particular body type. Men Nike Free Run 2 Black Gym Red Quilted,You know how some comedians male and female joke about how once you're married, all the mystery and romance dies? He pees with the door open, you wax your mustache while discussing weekend plans and your sexy lingerie gets stuffed to the back of your dresser in favor of comfy old sleep Ts? It may make for some good belly laughs, but the fact is, there is a sense of "ahh, now we can be ourselves" that comes with tying the knot. And once the honeymoon is over and you two settle into cozy domestic bliss with no pressure to look good for the biggest party you will likely ever throw for yourself you might find some of your previously healthy eating habits getting sidelined when he suggests ordering Chinese food for dinner (again) or you decide you'd rather snuggle in bed an hour longer than slip into your running shoes and head out for your morning walk. Same goes for him he's not impervious to your charms, after all. But that's just one way things could play out. There is an alternative: you can stay your vibrant, sexy, healthy self and also enjoy being newly hitched. In fact, the key to successfully staying at "wedding weight" is simple teamwork. Here are some ideas: 1. Collaborate on a grocery list. It's tempting to want to spoil your spouse by stocking the pantry with his favorite choco mallow nutter treats. But first find out if he actually wants you to. Sit down and make a grocery list together, suggests Alyse Levine, a registered dietician from Los Angeles. Not only will this help you identify which healthy foods you both enjoy, it will also allow each of you to ban any "trigger foods" you'd rather not have in the house. So, what if your guy really loves a bowl of mint chip ice cream after dinner, and you worry you'll want to eat the whole thing? The list gives you a chance to discover where you can compromise. Perhaps he would be just as happy with cherry vanilla, which you're not crazy about anyway. 2. Plan meals together. You've likely spent time finding your common values about money, religion and children. Add food to the list, says Michelle Babb, a registered dietician from Seattle. It's important for couples to figure out what their eating life should look like and how to plan and prepare their meals. Babb suggests picking a day each weekend to plan meals for the coming week, then visit the grocery store or farmer's market and wash and chop the ingredients together. "You set yourself up for success for the rest of the week," she says. asking, "What's for dinner?" 3. Share your passions. It's fun to discover new foods together. Try new recipes at home or discover dishes at restaurants and guess the ingredients. Maybe you can recreate them later at home. Or spend date nights taking a new healthy cooking class. Hearing your beloved say, "Try a bite of this it's amazing" is surprisingly seductive. Likewise, make a plan to work out together, at least sometimes. It can take a lot of willpower to drag yourself to the gym when your sweetie is looking all adorable lounging on the couch reading the Sunday paper. Bring him along! Schedule a regular Saturday morning Pilates class you both enjoy. Or pick a new hobby, such as golf, scuba diving or salsa dancing, that you can learn together. Or walk the dog together every night after dinner. You'll bond and burn calories at the same time. 4. But don't share everything. Although marriage is a merger of equals, your meals don't have to be. Women need to eat fewer calories than men, so generally, it makes sense for them to eat smaller portions. Just because you cut the homemade pizza into eight slices doesn't mean you each have to eat four. Also, it's okay if your eating styles are different. One of you might like to eat two or three meals a day, while the other finds it easier to eat five mini meals. If he's the mini mealer, don't feel pressured to keep pace. And if you're the grazer, don't expect him to tuck in whenever you do. Find common ground which hopefully includes one shared meal a day and then viva la difference.
